Family and Community Celebrations
In the Handsworth area, many of our local residents are proud to tell you they have marked all their landmark occasions here at the Old Rectory. We can cater for everything from a Baptism party and Children's birthday parties, 18th birthday celebration and Wedding anniversaries through to 60th and even 100th birthday parties.
With our thoughtful and friendly atmosphere, we are also well experienced in catering for the more difficult occasions, like an afternoon tea following a Funeral or even a tribute night to celebrate the life of a loved one.

With its bar and plenty of space, the Main hall is a great venue for a big family get together following a baptism. These often take place on Sunday afternoons. You can do cold self catering or if you prefer choose from one of our excellent buffets that start at £7.00 per head.
These parties often start at around mid-day, sometimes for just a short celebration until 3 or 4pm, or, often turning into a bigger party running on into the evening. The Hall can be hired by the hour for a pre agreed time.
If you're tired of spending a fortune on a big commercial birthday party, why not consider the more traditional route. Our indoor and outdoor spaces are great for kids to run around, we have plenty of room for you to hire a bouncy castle or do traditional party games, why not book a magician or entertainer through ourselves?
The main hall is perfect for the larger parties and, has the benefit of the bar for the grown ups. During the Daytime on a weekend this room is discounted to just £25 an hour for childrens parties. Whilst the Nunnery room has a similar large wooden floor and plenty of space for up to 35 children and is often more affordable as, for weekend parties in this room we offer the discounted rate of only £20 per hour.
With prior arrangement, we will allow cold self catering in the rooms with no kitchen access. Or, allow us to cater for your children's party for example; sandwiches, crisps, sausages and biscuits would cost £4.00 per child or, a hot meal such as; chicken nuggets/pizza or hotdog with chips and beans or peas followed by ice cream for only £4.50 per child.
18th to 100th Birthdays and Wedding Anniversary Parties.
Our choice of rooms gives huge flexibility to any family celebration. The Ballifield and Bramley rooms are full of fine Georgian character and make a grand setting for the more intimate sit down family meal for up to 35 guests, catered for by our excellent menus.
Similarly the Main hall is a great venue to put on a disco or band, a large buffet and bar or even a sit down meal. As well as our set menus we can arrange alternatives like Pie and mash, Chilli and rice, Curries or Jacket potatoes and fillings, we can also arrange BBQ's on the lawn (weather permitting), why not let us work out a menu to suit your event.
Although we cannot offer kitchen access, we are happy to let you self cater in this hall with prior arrangement. We can organise as much or as little as you prefer or your budget allows. We are happy to provide our own DJ, flowers, balloons, table cloths and napkins, or you can source your own by prior agreement too.
We recognise the importance of being here for the more difficult times, as well as the good, which is why we have built up a good local reputation for our funeral teas.
Again, the range of rooms can cater for all sizes of get together on a hour by hour rate. Our very experienced host will welcome your guests, and serve tea and coffees.
We have a specially designed afternoon tea with a mixture of sandwiches and cakes that is perfect for these occasions and including the tea and coffee cost £6.90 per head - or you could choose from any of our other buffet menus too.
