Our Mission
We are a not for profit organisation that uses our commercial facilities to raise funds to restore the building and to keep it open as a venue for the local community to hold groups and events, many of which we are able to subsidise or run on cost basis.
Throughout the week there are all ages and all sorts of interest groups using the centre. If you would like more information or contact details just ring the office Monday to Friday between 11am and 2pm and ask for Tim on 0114 269 2537.
Charity StatusWe are pleased to confirm that in 2010 we received our charity status - registered charity 1139416, this will help us raise more funds beyond our commercial activities to help restore this building and develop new facilities for Handsworth folk too.
Carboot sale
Our next carboot sale will be in March next year outside pitches £5.00 inside stalls £4.00 - watch this space for dates - thanks to all those who braved the rain for the October boot sale, it was still a great turn out.
Community GardenWe are in the process of transforming the old kitchen gardens at the back of the building into an exciting new gardening project, offering people the chance to learn about growing their own veg and taking produce home. The area is being designed with raised beds so those with disabilities can join in too. The more hours you invest the more produce you take home, perfect for those that want to grow but can't have their own allotment. We want families involved, but also anyone with an hour or two to spare to share knowledge or help dig, plant etc. Contact Father Keith at keithhjohnson@hotmail.com or come along on saturday mornings between 9am and 12noon to meet Vince the project leader and help out.
Community Groups NewsOur Social Sequence Dance is growing weekly but we would still welcome more members on a Tuesday afternoon. 2pm to 4pm £2.50 per person Tea or Coffee and biscuits 20p per person. Come and learn some new dances and dance old favorites too.
