Statement from the Trustees of The Old Rectory Handsworth Community Centre Ltd.

Some good news about the future of the Old Rectory following its sad liquidation back in May due to Covid-19:

“I know that this will come as welcome news to many. I am delighted to let you know that we are in positive and advanced discussions with a local hospitality company to take over the operating of The Old Rectory.  This company is very experienced and successful at running wedding venues in our area, and they are as keen as we are to see The Old Rectory open again.  If successful, this will mark a change of direction, as The Old Rectory will be run as a commercial venture for weddings and private social events. Nevertheless, the company we are talking with are keen to welcome local people back and become a thriving part of Handsworth.  As soon as I can let you know more information, I will, but we are working as quickly and diligently as possible to come to an agreement that sees this lovely venue up and running as soon as possible.”

That part of the property known as the nunnery will continue to be kept as a community and church space and we are currently looking at how to raise money to improve and develop it along with the disused tennis court.
